Casework

Our caseworker provides one-to-one, person-centred support to women in the perinatal period who are over 17 years of age that require support to overcome practical barriers to accessing or engaging in therapy with WCTS.

Casework may be offered after an initial assessment of your needs and alongside counselling. Casework is usually short-term work to support women overcome barriers that prevent you accessing counselling.

The support can cover a wide range of emotional and practical support needs, such as:

· Assistance with Housing applications, banding, signposting to housing services.

· Support with debt, budgeting, benefit applications.

· Isolation in the perinatal period, linking with baby groups and maternity services.

· Parenting and safeguarding children

Practically, we can advocate for and support women and girls in meetings with other agencies. We’re also able to offer support with organising food parcels, and linking clients with groups to promote independence and address issues around isolation. The focus of the work aims to empower women and girls to help them make informed positive choices in moving forwards with their lives.

To access casework support you must be accessing therapy at WCTS or intend to start therapy with WCTS. Casework can take place before or during therapy.
